Mistreatment of teachers in the school system

I have a 10 year old daughter who attends one of the best elementary schools here in Lynchburg, Virginia. I have recently found out that she has been basically harrassed by her teacher. She told me that her teacher gets loud with her and other students in her class as well as confront her in front of the other students. My daughter is an A/B Honor Roll student who recently won a writing contest for her school which they could only pick one student per school, she was doing the broadcasting for her school news and has assisted the principal with many different things. This teacher has made my daughter not want to participate in school; affected her self esteem; and she has dropped out of doing the broadcasting. She has been trying to tell this teacher that there are kids picking with her but instead she yells at her like it is her fault. I recently posted something simliar to this on my facebook page and found out that there are other parents who reside her in Lynchburg that are dealing with something similar with their child's teachers, but at different schools.

My question is, what ever happened to the teachers educating, inspiring, and encouraging the kids? This makes me wonder if this is part of the reason why we hear about these kids killing themselves or shooting in the schools because the teachers no longer care about them. I understand that they have a lot of pressure on them but that has nothing to do with our children. True, there are parents who throw their kids off on the teachers and expect them to raise them but there are those of us who actually raise our kids and care about their feelings, livelyhood, and how they are doing in school. I am so outraged about this and feel that something needs to be done about it. I have a meeting tomorrow with the teacher and the principal and if nothing changes, I am going to the school board as well as Channel 13 News.
